SSJs Honored with Public Proclamations

In celebration of the 375th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Le Puy, France, and recognizing more than 170 years of dedicated service in the Rochester area, local leaders recently honored the Sisters with Public Proclamations.

On June 26, Proclamations were presented to Congregational President, Sister Mary Lou Mitchell, by Adam Bello, Monroe County Executive; Michael Burns, Rochester Deputy Mayor (on behalf of Mayor Malik Evans); and Bill Smith, Pittsford Town Supervisor. U.S. Congressman Joe Morelle, who was unable to attend the event, also issued a Proclamation, recognizing the lasting impact that the Sisters have had and continue to have on the community.

Sister Beth LeValley helped organize the event.
