Sister Joan Margaret Kunz
Sister Joan Margaret Kunz taught at Nazareth Hall and Sacred Heart, Rochester; St. Patrick’s School, Mt. Morris; and Mt. Carmel High School, Auburn. Sister Joan Margaret then went on to teach Scripture, first at Nazareth College for almost 30 years, then in the SSJ Spirituality Program for another 10 years. Following her retirement in 1992, she volunteered at the former SSJ ministry St. Martin’s Place where she served those in need for 18 years.
During the occasion of her 75th Jubilee celebration in 2021, Sister Joan Margaret reflected, “Among God’s many blessings are, first and foremost, all those persons – both within and outside the Congregation – who have been the focus of God’s presence in my life, living reminders of who God is for me!”
In 2026, Sister Joan Margaret was celebrating 80 years as a Sister of Saint Joseph.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Sister Dorothea Kunz, SSJ, Mary Fritsch (Mary Xavier, SSJ), Robert Kunz, Francis Kunz and John Kunz. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, friends, and her Sisters in the Congregation.
