Sister Dorothy Meisenzahl (formerly Sister Robertine)
Sister Dorothy Meisenzahl, formerly Sister Robertine, grew up in Sacred Heart Parish, attended the elementary school and St. Joseph’s Business School. “The friendliness and dedication of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and the Sisters of Notre Dame was my inspiration to become a Sister of Saint Joseph,” said Sister Dorothy. She attributes her vocation to these Sisters and her wonderful parents and large family who supported her in her decision to follow her heart.
Throughout her religious life, Sister Dorothy has taught and been principal at various diocesan schools: St. Monica, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Most Precious Blood, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Corpus Christi, Mother of Sorrows, Blessed Sacrament, Nazareth Elementary, and St. Ambrose, St. John the Evangelist, Spencerport; and St. Mary’s, Auburn. She also served as Congregational secretary for many years.
Sister Dorothy reflected, “Teaching was a blessing and a precious gift that I loved, which allowed me to find ways to help God’s little ones, who were precious in God’s eye.”
Presently, Sister ministers and lives at the Sisters of Saint Joseph Motherhouse.
