Care, Connection, and Compassion
The Sisters of Saint Joseph continue to advocate for the marginalized. On July 31, the Sisters sponsored the Rochester Homeless Outreach Team’s (HOT) third annual Ice Cream Social at St. Joseph Park in the City of Rochester. Aimed at supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, the event created a welcoming space filled with care, connection, and compassion.
Guests enjoyed sweet treats from JoJo’s Cool Bus, a local favorite, along with freshly prepared sandwiches made by the Sisters. In addition to food, attendees had the opportunity to receive essential clothing items, hygiene kits, and had access to information and resources from a range of human service organizations.
Sister Beth LeValley is a member of HOT which is comprised of representatives from various service agencies in Monroe County. She has organized the event for the past three years as part of the Team’s continued efforts at helping reduce homelessness. Fellow Sisters, Associates, Collaborators and other members of the Joseph family have also assisted Sister Beth with preparing for and working at the event, helping bring light and kindness to those who need it most.
