Audiences who see the latest performance at Geva Theatre’s Nextstage are helping to support the Sisters of Saint Joseph. A portion of the proceeds from the hit play "The Late Nite Catechism"  are earmarked for the SSJ retirement fund.

The popular comedy stars Colleen Moore as a “Sister” who teaches Catechism classes. The audience is the class! The production has been a hit in dozens of cities across the country. In each area, the show donates a portion of its proceeds to sisters in that community. Over the last 12 years, the show has contributed more than three million dollars to religious congregations.

Sister Sheila Walsh (Sister Sheila's show "Second Time Around" will be performed at Geva again this year) had the opportunity to get to know Ms. Moore.  "She is an amazing woman who loves being in Rochester," says Sister Sheila. "Recently, she stopped by the Motherhouse for a tour, which she loved....had lunch, was greeted warmly by the Sisters."  Sister Sheila also invited Ms. Moore to Nativity School for a grand tour. Moore met Chrissy Carpenter who along with her husband Bill is on the Nativity board of directors. Mrs. Carpenter told Moore she saw and loved the show and asked if the actress could come back to Nativity’s Gala in May. Who knows?

If you want to laugh, laugh, laugh....Go to Geva.  Geva has extended the play’s run to December 11th.  To learn more about the production, please CLICK HERE
